The Video Exchange Program is a two month program where groups of students from Malaysia will be paired with a Mentor who is a Malaysian University student that is currently studying internationally. The groups of students, however, would need one adult (a Guardian) to act as their supervisor and communicator.
The mentors involved will exchange videos with the Students through the Guardians and MSGA regarding a topic that has been set by a structured syllabus once every two weeks. The videos will also include some questions for the participants to discuss and gain knowledge from. Below is a simplified diagram of how the event works. The syllabus and schedule can also be downloaded from the attached files below. Please make sure that you download the right file based on your role.
Do note that Mentors have a different schedule to Guardians and Students. Mentors will also have a set of workshops, created by MSGA, for them to attend once every two weeks.

  • Which role am I in?

Mentor: Any undergraduate or postgraduate Malaysian students who are currently studying abroad. (Mentors will be making the videos.)

  • What language should we use?

One of the goals of this project is to familiarize with the act of speaking in English. Therefore, everyone involved would have to talk in English for the whole duration of the recorded video. Broken English is allowed and both participants and students do not need to worry about the speed, pronunciation or grammar while speaking.

  • How much does it cost to join?

Free of Charge. It would only cost your time and energy.

  • Who do I contact if I have questions?

We would suggest you to scroll down to the FAQ section to find your question. If it is not there, feel free to message us on our Facebook page: or contact one of our members at OR

  • What can I gain?

A safe space to practise speaking English and to build up a sense of confidence in sharing opinions. At the same time, you’re able to look into and understand the differences between cultures around the world.

FAQ and Files:

If I am a Student with no Guardian to supervise my group, can I still join?

Yes, absolutely! Choose one person from your group of 3-5 students to act as a representative and register using the link that we’ve provided above. During registration, put down “N/A” when asked about a Guardian. We’ll send you out an email to ask for further information.

I would like to participate in the program as a Guardian, however I am not in the teaching profession.

You are more than welcome to still participate in the program. However, since we do not pair Students and Guardians, you would still have to find your own group of students to supervise.

If I, a Guardian, have registered my team, should my students register individually too?

No. The Student registration form is meant for students with no Guardians.
